Capital Ode talks to us about his new single, Going Back Home for HIP HOP MONTH.
“Going Back Home is a song for all of the people I’ve met in all of the different places that I’ve lived. Though I didn’t always see it as a blessing, I was blessed to have moved around a lot as a kid. Through that I was able to gain culture from very different places. I was very afraid of being different but eventually I came to realize that these differences were more interesting to people than my similarities were. Now there isn’t a place where I can go and say that I grew up in the same way as the locals. Bits and pieces of many cultures came together to make me who I am today and I’m grateful. There’s a friend who would give me a pillow to rest my head in every place that I’ve ever lived so whenever I visit these places, I’m going back home.”
