Hat City Kitchen is the place where things happen! Relationships are born and bands are formed. Tess Rose, one of the beautiful models for Portrait of a Lady and bartender at Hat City Kitchen is now in a band! She is lending her vocals to folk band, Brother Valiant.

So far, everyone is in love with the band, and believe that she is the perfect fit. The other musicians in the band, which plays varying instruments including, rhythm guitar, tenor banjo, madelin, violin and more. They are such talents and always sound amazing. No matter the venue, or if they are missing a few members. They have been booking gigs, and performing EVERYWHERE! They rocked the house for ORNG Ink’s Inkalicious Block Party. I recently came upon the following photography website, Feature Photography. Photographers submit their photograph sets, and editorials. It is so interesting to see all of the different stories photographers are telling through their lens. It is so creative, and really inspirational. I am already in talks with my photog friends about what cool stories we can tell. Here are pictures from an interesting one:

WHAT WE LOVE: Cucumber Martinis!

So… anyone that knows me pretty well knows how obsessed I am with cucumbers. I absolutely love them. They are so refreshing and crisp. I can peel one, and eat it whole. So naturally, I then became addicted to cucumber martinis. OMG! Hat Cit Kitchen bartender, Phillipe & cook Natalie have made me feel like they exposed me to a whole new world with this cocktail. Here is the fantastic recipe:

1.5 oz. citrus flavored vodka (we used Absolut Citron)
1 oz. triple sec
1 oz. simple syrup
1 oz. cucumber juice (peel cucumber and muddle)
1/2 oz. lime juice

This was so good, then garnished with a cucumber, orange, and lime. Mmmmhhhh. Next time you are at a bar, with a good bartender and want to order something different, especially during the summer, try a cucumber martini. And remember to ask for citrus flavored vodka or gin. That’s the key! -P.R.

The Team is currently in the process of producing a fashion show and as a stylist I have a set where I style vintage pieces. I have been going crazy finding inspiration everywhere. Good thing there is a such thing as blogs and social media because I find some of the best stuff. I just save all of the pictures in folder on my google drive, where the rest of my creative team can view them. One of the fashion blogs that continue to inspire me is, Style Pantry. It gives Fashion Bomb Daily a run for their money.

Everything on her site is amazing. There is so many more features about the fashion industry, that I honestly haven’t found access to thus far. WHAT WE LOVE is a new blog feature that give the masConsumption bloggers and team a place to tell readers and fans the things we are ‘digging’ at the moment. Its a fun way to learn new songs, books, blogs, etc. There is so much going on the internet, so many blogs, who can keep up? Its great to get good referrals from other like-minded individuals or just being exposed to something new. Who knows what is the next place you find inspiration?

Right now, the song that picks me up, and gets me in the blogging mode is Valerie by Amy Winehouse, the Mark Ronson version. Here it is on youtube:

I know, I am late. But I have recently gotten hooked on the Amy Winehouse playlist on Pandora and this song always comes up. As well as Adele, and Lily Allen. So whenever you are feeling blah or need to get your mojo back, this playlist may make you feel worse but it may also make you feel soulful and inspired. Take a listen! -P.R.
