Hat City Kitchen is the place where things happen! Relationships are born and bands are formed. Tess Rose, one of the beautiful models for Portrait of a Lady and bartender at Hat City Kitchen is now in a band! She is lending her vocals to folk band, Brother Valiant.

So far, everyone is in love with the band, and believe that she is the perfect fit. The other musicians in the band, which plays varying instruments including, rhythm guitar, tenor banjo, madelin, violin and more. They are such talents and always sound amazing. No matter the venue, or if they are missing a few members. They have been booking gigs, and performing EVERYWHERE! They rocked the house for ORNG Ink’s Inkalicious Block Party. Avery Thompson is a talented 16-Year-Old West Orange High School student who will be putting on a show! The concert takes place Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the South Orange Performing Arts Center. This concert will showcase his hilarious impressions and singing, sharing the stage with friends and family. Avery is battling leukmia.

The Exit Releases at Hat City Kitchen!

Last week, talented director and filmmaker Marco Dorce released his latest short film, The Exit at Hat City Kitchen. Luckily I was able to get a director’s cut being that our desks are 10 feet away…and the second time I saw it at the screening, I was equally impressed. The short has a little bit of everything, but most of all suspense! My apt. and the Valley really looks good in the film too! We showed a preview of the film opening the Portrait of a Lady Runway Show. The story follows a man who becomes an assasin after he is released from prison and ponders how people shall make their “exit”. That’s all I want to say! I will post the link to the short film as soon as possible!

Last night was pretty amazing. I can not believe how awesome the show turned out. We had a great turn out, the fashion and the models looked great.

The Team: Portrait of a Lady was truly a group effort, and I want to thank the team who spent the summer producing this event. All of our hard work truly paid off. Briana, the lookbook was amazing, Crystal the make-up looks gorg! Amira the hair….perfect! I am so proud of my partner, Kat. We did it! We made our debut! Laura, your set really was the greatest finale. Molly & Mike, thank you for everything and all your support. We owe you the world! Marie, the LadiSav after party was CRAZY!

DJ Drewski did his thing, wow. It was truly a magical night.

There are so many people I need to thank:

Our Fabulous Guests: Thank for coming out! You all stepped out and looked hot! I can not wait to release the pictures. And I hope you all have fun and come out to the next event.

The Models: You all KILLED IT! The clothes would not have been anything without you hot ladies. You all looked gorgeous! You truly strutted your stuff!

Tyree of 91 Films: You always come through for us… I can not thank you enough for all of your help. I could never pay you back all you have done for me. We started from the bottom…and we gonna ride it to the top! Love you!

The David Sisters, Bea modeled and Marie hosted and Essie stepped in to help out back stage and during the after-party!

Ja-Tay: The best fashion show interns a girl could ask for. Thanks girls!

WHAT WE LOVE: Cucumber Martinis!

So… anyone that knows me pretty well knows how obsessed I am with cucumbers. I absolutely love them. They are so refreshing and crisp. I can peel one, and eat it whole. So naturally, I then became addicted to cucumber martinis. OMG! Hat Cit Kitchen bartender, Phillipe & cook Natalie have made me feel like they exposed me to a whole new world with this cocktail. Here is the fantastic recipe:

1.5 oz. citrus flavored vodka (we used Absolut Citron)
1 oz. triple sec
1 oz. simple syrup
1 oz. cucumber juice (peel cucumber and muddle)
1/2 oz. lime juice

This was so good, then garnished with a cucumber, orange, and lime. Mmmmhhhh. Next time you are at a bar, with a good bartender and want to order something different, especially during the summer, try a cucumber martini. And remember to ask for citrus flavored vodka or gin. That’s the key! -P.R.
