ORNG Ink Group Exhibit: Opening Reception @ Hat City Kitchen!

I am proud to announce the newest exhibit in the Hat City Kitchen gallery. The third show in the dining room, following Catfish Friday’s arts collective will be making it’s debut this weekend! This is a huge opportunity for the emerging and resident artists in their careers.

We are truly excited and proud and feel this is a big opportunity for the artists!! Curated by Laura Campbell.

We are celebrating by having an opening reception at Hat City Kitchen this Monday, October 28th at 7:00pm. Food & drinks will be served!

Wednesday 10/23 8:00pm :

Open Jazz with Mike Lee. You’re invited to a wonderful night of jazz music brought to you by the best in local talent. Hosted by Mike Lee, this open jazz jam welcomes all styles and levels of musicians to share the stage and create great music. Each week brings a new surprise so make sure to check it out. The show starts at 8:00PM, but get in early to grab a seat. Always a good time, this jam is not to be missed!

Thursday 10/24 9:00pm :

Project Groove. Join The JT Project for a weekly open mic/jam that is sure to blow your mind! Featuring local and regional musicians who have worked with artists like Beyonce, Estelle, Chaka Khan, Lauryn Hill, Justin Timberlake, Kenny Garrett, Joe and many more, all are encouraged to take the stage and show their skills. Starting with a set by The JT Project and ending with a slamming open mic, this jam is a force to be reckoned with!

Friday 10/25 8:00-10:00pm :

The Sidney Greenstreet Band. The Sidney Green Street Band was formed out of the musical kinship of four New York based musicians with performance and recording credits ranging from Paul McCartney to Ian Hunter. The musicians include Justin Jordan and Lance Doss on guitars, Paul Page on Bass and Steve Holly on Drums. Their brand of rock and roll has elements of southern funk and Jersey soul with plenty of jamming for the fans of musical improvisation.

Friday 10/25 11:00pm :

Bog Iron Bloom. Bog Iron Bloom is as rare and as natural as the lost commodity they borrow their name from. They carefully combine a semi-acoustic trio of guitar, bass and drums with a small but haunting string section. They have been recognized by the Asbury Park Press, 90.3 the Core, and have won the award for “Top New Band” by the Jersey Acoustic Musician Awards. They released their debut EP, “Welcome to Bears” in August 2013.

Saturday 10/26 8:00-11:30pm :

The Jersey Jazz & Soul Revue with Stephanie White. A project of 3rdValve Productions (www.3rdValve.net), the “Jersey Jazz & Soul Revue” is exciting group that plays a mix of straight ahead Jazz, Soul and R&B, to bring its audience a variety of music that is entertaining, musically engaging and interesting: music for the heart, the mind , and the feet! The group consists of four horns, four rhythm and two singers, performing music by jazz greats such as Mulgrew Miller, Lee Morgan, Larry McKenna, and Dizzy Gillespie side by side with soulful classics by Aretha Franklin, and the Temptations, to unforgettable hits by Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight, to smokin’ tunes by current day R&B icons like Joss Stone and Christina Aguilera. Singers Stephanie White & Trent Kendall serve up lush vocals, backed by the 3rdValve rhythm section and the BIG SOUND of the 3rdValve Horns.

Molly, Laura, and I love planning events and once we saw that what we hoped did not work out, we decided to do what ORNG Ink does best, throw a party! We had all this art from past ORNG Ink artists, and this beer we have been waiting for people to taste, a zine release coming & it has been forever since we baked anything in our earth oven…so we decided to throw a family and friends celebration to celebrate the new season.

Laura did an amazing job designing this flyer!

Saturday, October 12 ORNG ink will be hosting their first annual OKTOBER FEST here at the Ironworks Gallery. There will be a lots of events and activities for members, and friends and family!

BEER TASTING: A couple months ago ORNG Ink and the University of Orange hosted their second round of beer making classes with Andy, the beer master and we brewed our version of the Obama Honey Porter Ale, called BaROCK Your Socks OFF! We brewed over 40 bottles and want to have the official tasting with our 21+ friends and family members.

GROUP ART EXHIBIT: We are calling it the “Legacy Show”. All artists who have ever exhibited in the Ironworks Gallery we reached out to them to donate a piece for a group show! We are sure to get some great pieces from Monique Norris, Stephen Batiz, Anj Ferrara, Vaughn P., Vladimir Jean, Khari Ricks & more!

zine release: This is the event to get your hands on the Fall issue of masConsumption! The ABC Series is a short story anthology featuring writers, poets, song writers and more in the area, New York City and across the world!

The Exit Debuts in NYC this Saturday night!

Oh-em-gee! That is how I feel when I think about how proud I am of Marco Dorce, a friend and frequent collaborator. He has worked so hard since I’ve met him, almost two years ago, to grow as a filmmaker and make great films. The Exit, is awesome. It is captivating, and has you on the edge of your seat as far as suspense is concerned. You are entertained and you fell a great deal of emotion and depth. I do not want to give away too much, I have seen director’s cuts and the first premiere here in the Valley at Hat City Kitchen.

Here’s the description:

A story of a hitman hired by the government. Having executed two innocent people, he looks for an exit after his feelings and conscience fully surface.

Join us at Kilmat Theatre, this Saturday at 7:30p.m.

Hello Writers,

Here is a little more information based on questions and feedback I have been receiving about the call for writers and poets for the story anthology in the Fall 2013 zine issue:

Deadline for all submissions: October 1st, 13. Send work to zinefeature@gmail.com, or go to submissions page for more information.
CONTENT:
- Stories, poems, verses can be about anything you want to write about. Content can be unfinished, excerpts, etc.
- 26 writers will be submitted to this issue
- The only requirement is that your piece MUST HAVE A TITLE.
When sending your work, please provide, author name (you can also remain anonymous), age, where you are from, blog or social media you’d like to share
DISTRIBUTION: This issue will debut Saturday October 12, 13 during this year’s annual VAMP (Valley Arts Music and Poetry) Festival in New Jersey’s Valley Arts District in the Pat n Kat Pop-Up Shop Event at Ironworks Studio.
