#AntiLemonade Celebrates Women in a Big Way | Beyonce & Rihanna Inspired Exhibit

I follow accounts like @onlyhiphop and @historyinpics because I enjoy seeing the vintage photos of today’s pop culture icons. Back then, there weren’t any cell phone cameras or as many paparazzi, so there is not that overexposure of celebrities on snap chat and Instagram. So photos of Biggie casually chilling with Puff Daddy at the club seem priceless. A piece of history. A snapshot of two people with illustrious careers and a storied culture.

Now, what is fascinating to me is that no one knew at the time the photo was taken, how iconic it would be. Who they met at the party for the first time, who ended up elevating their careers. I like to call networking, planting seeds. Over time they grow and prosper in ways no one could’ve predicted. The biggest and fullest bloom come from people you meet at prominent events like Anti-Lemonade. I felt the hugeness and anticipation and made sure to invite everyone I know to the event.

I attended the one-night exhibit as press for Daze Summit blog, with LeTrice DeShon, owner of Who Did You Meet? event. Anti-Lemonade was more that a Beyonce and Rihanna inspired art show. It was a certified movement. And when you walked in, it was intoxicating being in Bleeker Event Hall, with so many driven, and well-dressed New Yorkers, in what is sure to become an iconic event for the culture.Β

The art was refreshing, as I am a huge fan of both of pop superstars. There was a mix of signature images of Rihanna and Beyonce. Like the glowing gold of Bey’s Grammy 2017 performance look, Rihanna’s Anti album editorial, music videos with strong imagery with Telephone by Beyonce and Umbrella, Rihanna’s big crossover hit featuring Jay Z. These two women are so influential that their lyrics can stand alone, work interpreting popular lyrics like, β€œhot sauce in my bag swag,”

The event also celebrated Women’s History month with all female exhibiting artists including KrissiScribbles, ilikearttypegirl, Mobiggaa, _TatiDiaz, CCSteez, ANewYorkBrit, Tracy_Luckow_Art, Skyllas_wang, Kitty Leigh, Christy Ayala, Afrocentric_keyy, SolarisSapiente, Call_her_al, Chinochi_, HelloQori, TeeGraszi, Ebonii.b, Bonita_Applebum_, MrsOriginals, Ace_Artista, MiniSade, ShaGotShotz, LafemmeCheri, ArtistRheoSantana, Sharon Volpe, Bree Cheese, Americanmouthhh, Mickey Hoover & Zhanes Palette.

While you took in the stunning art, we enjoyed music from three ladies throughout the night, DJ9AM, Olivia Dope, and Miss Milan who I knew from her spinning at last month’s Who Did You Meet x Lust event. All in the vein of promoting and highlighting strong women. In addition to art, there were also live painting, a glow in the dark room, a Caribbean themed room, and a dancing room led by The Allure Dance Group. There was food provided by A Lil Bit of Fun, Lexys Cupcake Bar, and photo booths.Β

All in all, this was a great way to celebrate women, in a way curated by women and for us. The next generation of movers and shakers in New York like Taquee Bond and Brianni T. are coming up in a big way.

I can not wait to next event presented by Brianni T.!
