In 1619, Africans arrived in Jamestown and were sold into bondage. In two years — 2019 — we will observe the 400th anniversary of this event in a time of rising inequality and racism. This day-long conference will explore the key events of the past 400 years that shape the current state of inequality; discuss the nature of the present moment; and propose ways to observe the 400th anniversary of Jamestown. Dr. Mindy Fullilove presents a second in her Urban Alchemy Seminar Series about coalition building. Urban Alchemy teaches us that we have to find what we’re FOR and then build coalitions to lead change. Join us for an urbanism workshop that will help activists and community leaders learn how to align their goals and work together.

The Anti-Lemonade Exhibit is an art exhibit influenced by Rihanna and Beyonce. For Women’s History Month we are celebrating these two superstars in all of their greatness. During this event there will be a glow in the dark room, a caribbean themed room, and a dancing room led by The Allure Dance Group amongst other things. We will be serving drinks and funnel cakes (A Lil Bit Of Fun) and cupcakes (Lexy’s Cupcake Bar) inspired by the artists, 2 photo booths and more.

This spring a group of creative doers like myself are hosting a summit for young professional, including a show, two panels on blogging and podcasts and a Who Did You Meet? networking event.
