Masconsumption Youth Media Program

What: The six sessions provide a unique program mixing photography, graphic arts, blogging, social media, communications and journalism. At the end of the course the group will produce a culminating zine. A zine is self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images.

When: Mondays, 10am-12pm July 6-August 10th, Saturday August 22nd*

Where: True Youth, Inc., The Chronicle Building 15 S Essex, Orange New Jersey and Ironworks, 406 Tompkins, Valley Arts District

How:

Activities: “Get to know you” ice-breakers, mini-zine making workshops, photography scavenger hunt with social media, trending topic project, graphic design workshop with Mike Mal, photo-shoot, each session will end with a group shot using a selfie stick, and more.

Participants will learn general journalism and communication skills. As well as photography, social media, blogging and more. Each person will be assigned a role, and the finished project will release at ORNG Ink’s annual Inkalicious Block Party, Saturday August 22nd

Why: This media program offers a fun, one of a kind educational experience. This is just one of the unique aspects of Tru Youth, Inc. summer leadership camp this summer. The first program is a learning experience for everyone involved. Media, self image, awareness, and relations are changing and we want to teach youth ways to empower themselves.
